Frequently Asked Questions

Practical answers about selecting UV, ozone and integrated water-treatment systems.

Should I use UV, ozone or both?

UV is usually selected for direct microbial control in water with suitable UV transmittance. Ozone can add oxidation, odor/color reduction and residual oxidation in a contact stage. Some projects use ozone upstream and UV as final disinfection. The right route depends on water quality and the target result.

What information is needed to size a UV system?

Provide design and peak flow, water source, UV transmittance if available, turbidity and other relevant analysis, the required UV dose or standard, operating hours, connection and control requirements.

What information is needed to size an ozone system?

Provide flow, tank or loop volume, water analysis, treatment objective, target ozone dose or residual if known, contact time, operating hours and available air, oxygen, cooling water and power.

Can I select an ozone generator only by g/h output?

No. Ozone concentration, feed gas, transfer efficiency, water demand, contact time and mass-transfer method can change the result substantially. Output is one part of a complete ozone-water system.

What is the difference between air-fed and oxygen-fed ozone?

Oxygen-fed systems normally achieve higher ozone concentration and more stable output. Air-fed systems can be simpler for smaller duties but require dry feed gas and may not fit higher-concentration applications.

Do ozone systems need injection, contact and off-gas equipment?

Often yes. A complete system may require an injector or diffuser, mixer, contact tank, dissolved ozone or ORP monitoring and an off-gas destruct unit. The exact scope depends on the process.

Does UV require pretreatment?

UV does not remove particles, iron, manganese or hardness. Filtration or other pretreatment may be required when those conditions reduce UV transmission or foul the quartz sleeve.

Can Puritor supply replacement parts and supporting equipment?

Yes. Relevant items include UV lamps, quartz sleeves, matched power supplies, oxygen supply, pumps, flow control, ozone measurement, dissolved ozone instruments, ORP and off-gas equipment. Compatibility must be confirmed.

Can you support OEM or private-label projects?

OEM-ready configurations, control options and private-label coordination are available for suitable volumes and applications. Send the target duty, expected volume, market and documentation needs.

Are certifications the same for every model?

No. Materials, certifications, test records and compliance documents are confirmed for the actual proposed configuration. Do not assume that a document for one model applies to another.

Can I buy a standard sample?

A standard sample can be practical when the model, voltage, packaging and application are clear. Larger systems, calibrated instruments and engineered equipment are handled by quotation.

How quickly will I receive a recommendation?

The first response normally identifies missing information and the next engineering step. A firm technical and commercial proposal follows after the design basis is sufficiently clear.
